“Val de Loire” is registered on the UNESCO world heritage with a classification "cultural landscape". A river corridor 260 km long, going from Sully-sur-Loire (upstream) to Chalonnes-sur-Loire (downstream) is recognized as exceptional universal value from the point of view of the history, of the art and of the natural beauty. The valley of the Loire is a cultural landscape of exception, including cities and historic villages, big architectural monuments and farmlands, shaped by centuries of interaction between the populations and their environment. A remarkable site, first of all for the quality of its architectural heritage, with historic cities such as Orléans, Blois, Saumur, Tours … All the history of France was built on this river, corridor of migrants, goods, lines of resistance. After the Loire of abbeys and churches were taken out of the Middle Ages, it is the one castles which contributes to the identity of France. Castles world-famous as Chambord or Blois, which illustrate in an exceptional degree the ideals of the Renaissance and the century of the Lights on the thought and the creation of Western Europe. This site is the vastest subscriber in the World heritage and it is also the first river recognized as site by Unesco. An exceptional cultural landscape along the Loire which testifies of the harmonious development between the people and their environment. The big river is a part of these landscapes as much as the valley. Because if he was fitted out since two thousand years by his local residents, it was never distorted. The last wild river of Europe, the Loire is alternately quiet and wild. It reserves you the surprises of its whimsical temperament. Green islands, unstable sandbanks and ligérienne fauna give you an idea of its character.
